Official/ Steam newsEvery The Quiet Flat update, newest first
Each The Quiet Flat update is listed with its date, and each official post with its time in UTC from the Steam news feed. The titles open the original posts on Steam, and the lines under each one are our short summary of what it lists. All four posts are tagged as patch notes and signed by the same account, LetMeTh1nk, which also answers in the Steam discussions with a developer tag.
What each post changed stays dim until you switch on its light, so the list does not spoil a part of the flat you have not reached.
2 New Languages Added
- Languages
- Japanese localization was added.
- Korean localization was added.
Major Update
- Hints and puzzles
- Maze
- Lighting
- Key locations
- More hints, and they now appear sooner.
- Simplified versions of some puzzles.
- A complete rework of the maze area.
- More light sources in the maze.
- Key locations are now highlighted more clearly, to make navigation easier.
- The developer wrote that a patch just uploaded adds a hint on the fuse box, above the keypad, because some players did not like trying all 24 orders of the digits.
A reply in a Steam discussion, not an announcement. Steam shows thread dates without a time zone, so only the day is listed. It sits below the Major Update because, later in the same thread, the developer said a huge update was half an hour away; we take that to be the maze rework posted the same day.

How fast the patches came
Three patch posts came in three days, from to , then a week passed before the language patch on . Nothing newer had appeared when we read the feed again on .
What the Major Update changed, and why
The Major Update of is the biggest The Quiet Flat update so far and the longest of the four posts. The developer wrote that it came after reviewing player feedback and the issues players most often run into, and it lists five changes: more hints that now appear sooner, simplified versions of some puzzles, a complete rework of the maze area, more light sources in the maze, and key locations highlighted more clearly to make navigation easier.
It does not name the puzzles it simplified. In the keypad thread, a player wrote the next day that the keypad had been made far too easy. That is one player's view, and our guess that the keypad is among the simplified puzzles is only a guess.
What players reported before the maze rework
Launch-week reviews on Steam point at the same problems. A Chinese-language review on said there were no hints at all, and another at 00:55 UTC on said the scenes were too dark and the lighter too weak for the maze. Two reviews describe the moment after a knock at the door: a Russian one on says the scripts did not trigger after the knock and the game broke, and an English one on , from a player who streamed at launch, says they spent about an hour working out what happens next.
In the Steam threads, one player could not find the bathroom key and another asked in what order to enter the keypad digits. These are single players, not a count of how many had each problem.
What the maze rework means for older videos
Anything recorded before shows the maze before the rework. The developer put it plainly in the keypad thread: wait half an hour, this map will be unrecognisable. To date a video before you follow it, see how to check a walkthrough date on the guide page.

The fuse box hint: a patch without patch notes
One change is missing from the four posts. In a reply dated September 9 in the keypad thread, the developer wrote that some players did not like trying all 4! = 24 orders of the digits, so a new patch, just uploaded, adds a hint on the fuse box above the keypad. No patch notes mention it.
The thread also fixes its place in the timeline. About an hour and a quarter after that reply, the developer told the same player to wait half an hour for a huge update that would make this map unrecognisable. So the hint patch came before that huge update. The thread does not name it; we take it to be the September 9 maze rework. On that reading, a build from after that rework includes the hint unless a later change took it out, and nothing we collected says one did.
Steam shows thread dates without a time zone, so we give the day only and do not compare those times with the UTC times of the posts.
The digit order the developer confirmed in the same thread is a puzzle spoiler, so it sits behind a light in the fuse box section of the guide, with a screenshot of a keypad from the store page.
Which The Quiet Flat update added your language
Chinese came first. The post was written in Chinese: the developer said Chinese players had reported not knowing what to do next or where to go, because the game had no Chinese text, so the update added new game hints and a full Chinese localization. Japanese and Korean followed in the two-line post of .
- Simplified Chinese: added , together with new hints.
- Japanese and Korean: added .
- English and Russian: in the store list on ; no post mentions adding them.
One Chinese-language review from , after the Chinese patch, gave the game content a middling mark and the developer's attitude a good one. That is one player's review.
The Quiet Flat update FAQ
Is there a new The Quiet Flat update after September 16?
Not as of . We read the Steam news feed again that day: the newest post is still 2 New Languages Added from , and all four posts read the same as when we first collected them on .
What was the biggest The Quiet Flat update?
The patch. It reworked the maze completely, added light sources to it, made hints appear sooner, simplified some puzzles and highlighted key locations more clearly.
Does The Quiet Flat have version numbers?
None that we found. Every The Quiet Flat update posted so far came as patch notes with a title and a date but no build number, and the store data shows none, so this site compares dated notices. A notice date does not identify an installed build.
Which patch added the fuse box hint?
A patch the developer mentioned in a Steam thread on September 9, before the huge update announced later in the same thread. None of the four posts lists it.
Did a patch move the keys?
No post says so. The patch says key locations are now highlighted more clearly, which is about how visible they are, not where they are. One player's report of a missing bathroom key dates from before that patch.
Where do I report a problem to the developer?
In the Bug Reports & Feedback thread the developer opened on Steam when the game came out. It asks for bugs, technical issues and feedback.
At what minute did you get stuck?
